WELCOME
AMERICAN LADY ANGLERS
This website is for all
women, whether professional or amateur, interested in fishing
with other women in Bass Tournaments.
Whether you have ever fished “with the Big Girls” before,
every woman is welcome to fish any and all American Lady Angler
(ALA) events. This
is a team tournament trail, and each team will consist of two
anglers. Every woman
who wants to fish is welcome, whether you already have a partner
in mind or not. We
will have a “partner finder” page, for women interested in
partnering up prior to tournaments, and we will hold a random
pairing at each registration where we will announce matches of
women who have boats with women who wish to fish and do not have
a boat. Every effort
will be made to accommodate every woman who wants to fish.
Early registration is strongly encouraged for unpaired
anglers, especially if they are not bringing their own boat.
Any woman who has a boat and wishes to come fish with us
can sign up at any time – we will always be able to find someone
to go in the back of your boat and fish with you!
HISTORY: FEMALE
FISHING
The sport of Bass fishing has been changing for female anglers.
Over the years, there have been several tournament trails
specifically for women wanting to compete on their own level,
especially with other women.
Most women fishing today can remember the trail-blazers,
Bass N’Gals followed by the WBFA, or Women’s Bass Fishing
Association. Most
recently, ESPN/BASS, offered the women their chance to fish
together on the Women’s Bassmaster Trail (WBT).
In the history of female tournament fishing, thousands of
women competed together on lakes and rivers throughout the
United States, usually for very little in cash and prizes
compared with similar or equivalent male-dominated tournaments.
MISSION OF THE ALA:
The ALA intends to serve as a platform for all women wishing to fish,
whether they are life-long Professional Anglers or Amateur Bass
Anglers just starting their career in the back of the boat.
In addition, instead of very little in the way of reward
for top finishers, the ALA will offer much more competitive cash
payouts and prizes.
By offering the team format, whether utilizing either random or
angler-chosen pairing, the two women will have the chance to
work together in a team-atmosphere, sharing both the fish and
the prizes. Having
an affordable, team-tournament concept is not unique to
tournament fishing, but it is unique to the Women’s Professional
Angling Circuit. The
team tournament format will add a spirit of camaraderie and fun
that will be appreciated by all of the anglers participating as
contestants.
In addition to the improved cash payouts and prizes offered by the ALA,
we will offer real-time Internet Leader-board and Standings
Updates during the tournaments themselves.
Media coverage is very important to both the anglers and
their sponsors.
Understanding this, the ALA also intends to do everything in its
power to obtain exposure for its participants, in all forms of
media available, including print, radio, television and Internet
coverage. This will
not only help publicize the women’s fishing trail, but also the
individual anglers and their sponsors and sponsors’ products.
The ALA Website will serve as the primary information source for the
Anglers, Fans, and Sponsors following the female field of
contestants as they fish ALA-sanctioned events.
The website will contain news, events, photo galleries,
and sponsor website links, in addition to the informational
pages covering schedules, rules, registration, and payouts.
Eventually the website will also carry ALA merchandise,
including member patches, caps, shirts, and associated
ALA-sanctioned merchandise available for members and fans to
purchase to help support this organization as it supports female
anglers.
The ALA is in its infancy, spawned with the idea that we should do
everything in our power to preserve women’s competitive fishing
for future generations.
The format is innovative and enjoyable, for the anglers,
their families, and fans.
By supporting all conservation policies, including
catch-and-release, the ALA hopes to have nature, our lakes, and
our fish, available now and for future women to be able to enjoy
indefinitely.
Welcome American Lady Anglers.
Ladies, come fish with us!
